EscofferyThe Surdna Foundation today announced that Shawn Escoffery has been named the Executive Director of the Roy and Patricia Disney Family Foundation, a family-governed institution, based in Los Angeles, CA, committed to investing in innovative solutions and community leaders to build a more just, equitable, and sustainable world.  

While at Surdna, Shawn led the Strong Local Economies program to create opportunities for upward economic mobility among communities that have experienced historical economic barriers, including low-income people, communities of color, women, and immigrants.

“During Shawn’s 7½ years as the Strong Local Economies’ program director, he has pushed important ideas in economic equity and economic development. Surdna and the communities we work with are the better for Shawn’s contributions, said Phillip Henderson, president of the Surdna Foundation. “I am grateful for what Shawn has given to Surdna, and I’m excited to see him take on this next, significant, leadership position.”
