In his 2011 keynote presentation to the Grantmakers In the Arts Conference in, Dr. Manuel Pastor addresses demographic changes, as illuminated by the 2010 Census and other population and economic data. The Professor of Geography and American Studies and Ethnicity at USC uses these trends to illustrate present and future race and equity scenarios. Binding these scenarios to social justice strategies, and social justice strategies to arts participation strategies, Dr. Pastor discusses how equity, inclusion, and the arts are imperative to economic and social sustainability.
