HUD Announces $100 for Sustainable Communities Regional Planning Grant Program

Today the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) announced that they will fund $100 million under FY2010 Notice of Funding Availability (NOFA) for "Sustainable Communities Regional Planning Grant Program." The mission of HUD’s Office of Sustainable Housing and Communities is to create strong, sustainable communities by connecting housing to jobs, fostering local innovation, and helping to build a clean energy economy. There are two main areas of operation that work together to comprise the Office of Sustainable Housing and Communities: the Sustainable Communities Initiative and the Energy Innovation Fund. The East Bay Alliance for a Sustainable Economy's (EBASE) mission is to advance economic, racial, and social justice in California's East Bay region by building a just economy based on good jobs and healthy communities. In order to support low-income workers and communities of color, and address root causes of economic injustice, EBASE builds power through strategic alliances with labor, community, and faith groups.
